LDS 911-CT Coil Leak Detection System Accuracy and Reproducibility Specifications

 LDS statistically measures system performance for every leak detection system as compared to the customer's requirements as follows:

 The data is collected from a minimum of (10) ten good product samples. These samples are run through the automatic leak detector (3) three times to measure the test equipment repeatability (gage variation) and the percent of tolerance consumed by the gage. The gage is defined as the entire 911-CT leak detection system and all associated components.

 The data listed below represents two machines built for Carrier Corporation. The data collected was used to measure each machines repeatability and the combined reproducibility and repeatability of both machines.

 The customer specifications required a leak rate limit of 1.2 x 10^-5 cc/sec and a percent of tolerance consumed by the entire 911-CT leak detection system and all associated components (gage) not to exceed 20 percent.

The test results indicated the entire 911-CT leak detection system and all associated components (gage) has a 6.8 percent of tolerance and a 15.1 percent of tolerance consumed by the measurement variability of the (2) two 911-CT leak detection systems and all associated components (gages).

Other statistics indicated the gages are in statistical control. The gage repeatability is within 1.0 x 10^-7 cc/sec well below the customer specification.

 The background leak rate was measured to be 1.1 and 1.2 x 10^-6 cc/sec. This meets the LDS helium background criteria of one decade less than the customer specification or a signal to background ratio of (10) ten.
